PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior infielder Kendall Duffy (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after hitting .474 with eight RBI and six runs scored at last week’s Phyllis Rafter Memorial in Kennesaw, Ga.
Duffy scored or drove in 13 of Bradley’s 30 runs in the five games at the Phyllis Rafter Memorial. She opened the weekend with a 3-for-4 effort against Morehead State, collecting two doubles, four RBI and two runs. In the second game of a doubleheader at Kennesaw State Saturday, Duffy was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI as Bradley handed the Owls their first loss of the season. Sunday, she was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and one RBI in a victory against Bowling Green before wrapping up the weekend with a 2-for-4 outing with a run against Rutgers. A sports communication major, Duffy owns a 3.71 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Duffy and the Bradley softball team head to Tallahassee, Fla. for the Renegade Classic this weekend, opening tournament play with an 11 a.m. (CST) contest against UAB.
