Michael Huff,

My son Michael attended the White Sox Academy baseball camp in Lake Bluff  August 2 - 6.  It was a wonderful experience for him! A big Sox fan, he has been playing baseball since he could hold a bat.

I felt compelled to write to the White Sox Academy after the last day of camp.  All of your coaches were terrific with the kids, especially coach Matt Zicher.

Michael loves pitching and Matt asked him to stick around after camp to give him some pitching tips.  Matt spent about 45 minutes working with my son and his friend Will on their pitching techniques.

Will's father and I were watching them and we remarked how kind and generous Matt was with his time. Matt really enjoys coaching these kids for the love of the game! He has an enthusiasm for baseball that is infectious with the children.

I could see a real sense of accomplishment in Michael and Will. They couldn't wait to get to camp and play ball all week. What more could you ask for!

Thank you for such a wonderful program,

CR

I wanted to give you an update on one of your students, Al Robbins 2nd baseman & pitcher from West Chicago high school.

Al received a baseball scholarship from University of Illinois Springfield. UIS will be in their first year of their baseball program and is in the Great Lakes Valley Conference for D2 schools.

Coach came up to see him play and later that night offered Al a scholarship. He had several opportunities to play baseball - one night receiving 4 calls from college coaches. We listened very closely to everything you said from how he presents himself from getting out of his car, to sprinting out on the field, to how he warms up between innings. As an example, one coach who came to watch the other team, recognized Al and spoke with Al's Coach after the game wanting him to play for him. It was a very long journey for all of us but he is very happy to be able to "cross the lines" at a D2 program while getting a degree that will say University of Illinois.

Al's baseball skills certainly benefited from your training. Your defensive classes helped him tremendously.

He did take a couple lessons from you for his hitting.....over the summer he batted over .400 and this year he is currently batting over .400 with 5 homeruns - last night he had one against Naperville Central and drove in the other run of the game for West Chicago with a double. (He bends his back knee more prominently and he even commented how his toes on his back foot were hurting after one game from his follow through.) This came after pitching a complete game on Saturday against Wheaton Warrenville South and picking up the win. Later that night, West Chicago played a game at University of Illinois Chicago - great field and truly incredible views of the Chicago skyline.

Again, words cannot express seeing your child work so hard and to be able to realize his goal. Your training and dedication really made an impact on him.

Best wishes and thank you very much,

Dave Robbins

Coach Dan,

I'm glad you guys were able to see that article. I want to thank you for passing it on to Marty Kobernus. My team has been having a very good season and I have been getting my share of innings in. I am thankful that you were able to get me into the pitching lessons with Marty Kobernus because the adjustments he made are really paying off when I need them to. This season has helped me mature as a baseball player and I feel like I am moving in the right direction.

I also wanted congradulate you guys at Naperville North on your great season so far. I'm looking forward to seeing how far our schools go. Hey, we might even play each other in a few weeks.

Thanks again and I am looking forward to talking to you soon.

Mr. Fox:
Thank you so very much for running the coaches clinic for Burbank American Little League last week.  I think your thoughts and insight will be a great help to us this year.  I was up at our fields tonight and saw our coaches using the drills that you taught them.  Once again, thank you very much.

Dan,
Bob and I wanted to thank you for the outstanding 2 hours we had yesterday at Lisle.  Mark was great with the kids.  What a difference that has made already for  the kids.  Gives us a great base to work with.  The handouts will be a great help too.  Everything you did…First class!!!

The hats and shirts for the kids were unexpected….Thank you so much.

We will be touch soon for the next session for our team.  As we discussed, I may also be in touch on sending a hitting instructor over to our practices just to keep the kids on the right track.

Thanks again……Go Sox!!!

PS – Dan, You will be getting a call from Mark Canty or John Gates (the other St. Joes team) for training his group of 10 2nd graders.  I think they want  to set up the same thing.  Tell Mark (your instructor) not to teach them too well….We need to beat those guys!!!

Have a great day!!!

I knew from the first prep camp, the name escapes me, two nights a week, three hours per, that if my son was to make his High School team it would be from attending that camp along with additional hitting instruction from you.  So I enrolled him again this year.  You and your staff do a good job in getting the players physically ready, and an outstanding job in honing the fine skills of hitting, throwing and fielding that makes a difference in players chances of moving on.  Most of the boys at this age that want to play have enough talent, but they need the fine tuning a program like yours offers. I do understand there is a "glass ceiling" for 99.99% of all players but by attending your camp that glass ceiling, in my opinion anyway, gets pushed up as much as possible.  Keep up the great work, your appearance at the facility also goes a long way as an example of how a ball player needs to look and act.
I am hoping George can attend next winter again as well as getting a few hitting lessons this Spring to brush up with.  That will be difficult in the high school team's schedule as well as his 14U schedule but I know it would pay off to brush up his swing with you.

Hope to see you at the Academy if not the diamond.

George Cote

P.S. Two additional thoughts.  One, please expand on the importance of a strength program fro the players on a year round basis, even just simple things like 25 push ups per day, and secondly, I know this may be out of your realm, but the pitching instructor your company hired this year in Glen Ellyn "Mark" seems to be very knowledgeable with regards to getting young players to pitch well.  George's 14U team attends a 1 hour per week session and I think he really has a good knowledge of how to get young men to pitch well.

 Dan,

I wanted to let you know that Patrick made his freshman team at Benet Academy.  They had 37 kids try out for 18 spots.  Patrick participated in several camps at the White Sox Training Academy this winter (.400 Club, Marty's Pitching Camp, and last weekend's tryout clinic as well as the league on Sunday's).  The instruction he recieved was a huge benefit to him.

Thank You,

Travis,

I just wanted to send a big THANK YOU for the work you have done with Zach.  .I know you were asking when we saw you at the the academy this week.  Zach not only made the Plainfield North teeam but was one of two freshmen to be moved up to the Sophmore team.  I know with your instruction and the time Zach put in this would not have been possible.  Thanks again and we look forward to the months ahead.

Great news,  as Charlie made the Sophmore team at Wheaton North yesterday!  He's a very happy kid.  Charlie's worked very hard over the past year, and his improvement is certainly due in part to the teaching and encouragement from people such as yourself and others at the Bulls/Sox Academy.

With Best Regards,
Tim

My son, Tim Conroy has worked with the staff for the last couple of years at the White Sox Training Academy in Lisle. It has helped him develop into the baseball player he is today.

He has just committed to play baseball at a Division-1 College next year. There is no doubt in my mind that one of the big reasons my son plays the way he does is from the skills he has learned from Bulls/Sox Academy.  Nobody teaches this game better.

Whether its camp form or one on one, you will learn more about baseball than you ever thought possible. Every class is well planned.  The sessions include, but are not limited to throwing, receiving, proper footwork, and various forms of glove work.

Every player in his camps is serious about the game of baseball and improving their skills which helps to improve and motivate your son. The Elite baseball at the White Sox Academy is a step or two above!

Many players hit and pitch year-round, but how many work on their defense in the off season? It seems to me that defense wins championships!

If you want to become one of the best infielders around then I think you should work with Bulls/Sox Academy.
