Meet the Strength and Conditioning Team!
Casey Tiesman, Sports Performance Manager
A native of Morrison, Ill., Tiesman graduated from UND in 2013 with his Master’s in Kinesiology. He began his coaching career while attending the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), where he interned under Nick Zostautas and assisted with the coaching of a variety of teams. Casey has also worked with multiple Major League Baseball players and female National Rugby players during his tenure as an intern. Additionally, in his final year at UIC, Casey helped research, analyze, and design a new physical training regimen for the university's military ROTC program. From there, he worked for the University of North Dakota, where he was the Strength & Conditioning coach for the Baseball and Softball teams. During his time he helped the baseball team improve in every facet of their athleticism and mental toughness. The team finished the season with the most wins in their Division 1 era. He also had the opportunity to work with the Football, Basketball, Track and Field, and Swimming programs.
Casey has recently joined the Bulls/Sox Academy staff from previously working with one of the largest private sports performance facilities in the nation, EXOS (Formerly called Athlete’s Performance). Tiesman is certified and a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, along with being a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach. He also served in the United States Marine Corps for 5 years and was deployed on two tours of duty in Iraq.
Jimmy Slater, Strength and Conditioning Coach
Jimmy graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) with his Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology. As a Strength and Conditioning coach Jimmy has worked at several sports performance training facilities in the Chicago land area, including The Academy of Athletic Advancement (Mt. Prospect, IL) and Athletic Republic (Libertyville, IL). . He has worked with elite college and professional level athletes of numerous sports including; Football, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, Basketball, and Track. He has also held the position of Strength and Conditioning Coach for a local high school where he designed and implemented a new strength and conditioning program
Jimmy is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach, and Certified Personal Trainer. Prior to his coaching career, Jimmy served in the US Army during which time he was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Gio Piediscalzi, Strength and Conditioning Coach
Gio graduated from Southern Illinois University with his Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the NSCA and has two Personal Training Certifications. During his SIU career he was in charge of the Fitness Club and worked as a personal trainer for cancer patients. Additionally, Gio was player and then coach for the SIU Club Soccer team. Prior to his coaching career, he played soccer at South Suburban College and Semi-pro Indoor Soccer for the SI Blast. As a former trainer at the Academy of Athletic Advancement, he gained hands-on experience training elite high school and college athletes.
Gio is excited to train the youth athletes of the Bulls/Sox Academy Strength and Conditioning program at both our La Grange and Glen Ellyn locations with the mantra:

Cheryl Smith, Strength & Conditioning Intern
Cheryl will be graduating this June from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. She hopes to go on to graduate school to pursue a Master’s in kinesiology. During the first two years of college, Cheryl was a part of the Women’s rowing team, prior to college she participated in softball and basketball.

Clint, a former full-ride NCAA athlete and corporate executive, is owner and president
of Hard Gainers Athletics, Ltd., a sports performance and fitness training service for
athletes and non-athletes. After a successful career in product design and development,
Clint created HGA to pursue his life-long passion for physical fitness and assisting others
to maximize their full potential.
HGA was created from Clint’s own life experiences (athletics, business, and personal). HGA
emphasizes goal setting & monitoring, overcoming adversity, dedication & work ethic, and
informative nutrition strategies. Clint and his team of passionate, fitness professionals
work with clients to determine the appropriate steps to accomplish specific fitness goals
and then develops custom programs to get clients where they want to go.
